An Unaccompanied Minor refers to any passenger under the legal age of 19 who is traveling inside a commercial limousine or perimeter-seating bus without a parent or legal guardian present. Following safety updates by the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation, operators face strict legal liabilities when transporting underage groups for school graduations, proms, or sporting events. Limo companies must secure a fully executed Guardian Consent Form from a parent or legal guardian for every single minor before they are permitted to board the vehicle. Furthermore, if the minors are riding inside a vehicle classified as a Perimeter Seating Bus (PSB), the company is legally required to deploy an approved, independent adult Safety Monitor to actively oversee passenger behavior and prevent consumption of controlled substances during the trip.
